The Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians announced plans Friday night to reopen its Soboba Casino near San Jacinto at noon on May 27.
That is the earliest reopening date yet for any of Riverside County's casinos as the California economy starts to pick back up in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

About a week ago, the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians announced a 'target reopening timeline' around June 1 for the Pechanga Resort Casino near Temecula.

The casinos will look different when they reopen. Both will have temperature checks at their entrances and changed layouts to accommodate social distancing, for example. All team members will be required to wear masks.
Also at the Soboba Casino, visitors can expect to find plexiglass shields at service counter areas and floor decals throughout the property spaced at least six feet apart. The Soboba Tribal Council welcomes returning guests in a message on the casino website. The casino has been closed since March 18.
'We want to thank you for your continued support during the past couple of months and want you to know how much we value your loyalty,' the Soboba Tribal Council wrote. 'After sheltering in place with your families for so long, we are glad you have made the choice to rejoin your Soboba Family. Cleanliness and safety are at the forefront of our daily operations.'
When contacted for more information about the reopening, a spokesman for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians pointed to the casino website and declined to comment further. Mr bean games to play.
This comes as Gov. Gavin Newsom said one week ago that roughly 70% of the state's economy, including retailers, could reopen with modifications as the state moves into the second phase of its four-phase reopening plan.
Also on May 8, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to direct the public health officer, Dr. Cameron Kaiser, to rescind and amend a series of local public health orders stricter than California's statewide pandemic mandates.
